Title
Application to a limited extent. Fruit juices in plastic bottles
Abstract
Bottles made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) have become firmly established in the soft drinks industry. For mineral water and sweet drinks, PET bottles already have a market share of over 75 per cent and this is still increasing. The introduction of plastic bottles for more sensitive products such as fruit juices are considerably more difficult. Cartons and glass bottles still dominate there. However, active oxygen-scavengers and passive barriers, coupled with light protection functionality, are to a limited extent also allowing plastic bottles to be used for fruit juices.
