The Inspiration Matrix – identifying use cases for a technology with added value regarding UX Die Inspirationsmatrix – Anwendungsfälle mit UX-Mehrwert für eine Technologie identifizieren

Abstract
Positive User Experience (PUX) in the vehicle is an important differentiation factor. To achieve this, vehicle manufacturers must select the right technologies for implementation at an early stage. (Rittger and Schrader 2021). Therefore, the “Inspiration Matrix” method is presented. Its goal is to identify use cases for a technology with PUX potential in the vehicle interior. The PUX potential is operationalized by developing first ideas for PUX with the method. The first iteration was evaluated with 6 groups. Based on the feedback, the second iteration was developed and applied 4 times. The method was also compared to method 635. The Inspiration Matrix is evaluated in terms of applicational UX, systematicity, user-centeredness, inspirational ability, traceability & transparency, and through open-ended questions. On average, the method meets the requirements well. Strengths include, e.g., promotion of idea flow, ideation in the team as well as inspirational ability. Potentials for optimization are longer processing time, larger teams, and a different whiteboard. Future iterations should use the results to optimize the method.
