Title
Guiding The Transformation To A Digital Factory Twin: Towards An Enterprise-Architecture-Management-based Approach With The Help Of A Capability Map
Abstract
The Digital Factory Twin (DFT) is becoming more important in today's manufacturing world, but many companies are struggling to plan for its successful implementation. As part of an Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM) approach to help systematically implement a DFT this paper proposes a Capability Map. The Capability Map is developed for one subarea of a DFT, the smart factory (SF) operations. We start by analyzing existing papers which describe business capabilities of SF operations based on the research method of a Structured Literature Review (SLR) to derive generic business capabilities. The identified list of capabilities than is used as starting point for grouping capabilities and designing a hierarchical structured Capability Map. The map is validated with industry experts and gives a starting point for possible relevant business capabilities that needs to be accomplished in a DFT transformation initiative. The overall research methodology of our paper orientates on the proposed method for developing generic Capability Maps according to VAN RIEL.
