Title

SOHNET: Spectrum Optimization in Hybrid Networks

Abstract
One of the main challenges with the deployment of 5G-NR terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks like DVB is the limited availability of exclusive spectrum to serve the envisaged use cases and applications. This is also evident from the emphasis of coexistence studies in both 3GPP Release 19 Study Items and WRC 2027 Agenda Items. These studies warrant a more detailed simulation environment that implements the complexities of both DVB and 5G-NR Radio Access Networks (RANs) in order to evaluate optimal and feasible spectrum sharing solutions. This is the motivation for the development and testing of a dedicated simulation framework for Spectrum Optimization in Hybrid NETworks (SOHNET). This study showcases preliminary results and describes the simulation framework that is designed to characterize and compare the performance of spectrum sharing techniques based on a combination of mathematical programming and learning based solutions.
