Mono-Material Sandwich Structures (MMSS) - An Overview

Mono-materials composites or self-reinforced polymers (SRP) in which the reinforcing material and matrix are based on the same polymer show great potential to serve as an alternative to conventional fibre-reinforced composites in a more sustainable economy. However, their mechanical performance shows some shortcomings, which need to be considered when designing parts. This paper represents an overview of the current state-of-the-art and latest developments in self-reinforced polymers.
