On the way to application - current issues of assessment and material testing in the development of flame-retardant materials

To bring new materials into the application, many aspects besides the material performance must be considered. Competitiveness and production/product performance are always key. However, material requirements are not always known, and safe-and-sustainable-by-design approaches are becoming increasingly important - even in a very early development phase of a material. Here, insights into current issues based on ongoing projects in area of applied research on flame-retardant materials are presented.
