Title
HyPerFerment - More Efficient Biogas Plants via Hydrogen Production
Abstract
The decarbonization potential of hydrogen offers increasing usage paths in the fight against climate change. These additional utilization options lead to a growing demand for hydrogen. We meet this challenge by producing biological hydrogen as an alternative to water electrolysis. Initial results have shown that by integrating dark fermentation in existing biogas plants, the overall efficiency of the process can be increased by providing hydrogen in addition to biogas. This abstract presents and evaluates the first results of laboratory experiments. This paper will go into more detail regarding data collection and evaluation. The test results are examined based on limit-oriented efficiency evaluation to show the potential for optimization of biological concepts based on modeling. In addition, the new status of commissioning a demonstration plant on an industrial scale is presented.
