Herstellung von Polypropylen Schaumstoffen aus Rezyklaten im Autoklav-Prozess
Abstract

Foam particles with bulk densities up to 18 ± 1 g/l were manufactured with recycled polypropylene used in industry. Supercritical carbon dioxide has been used as a blowing agent. The foam particles could not be sintered in a steam-based process, but in a radiofrequency-based process. The recycled polymer has been compounded with talc and 2,6-Naphthalenedicarboxamide, a -nucleating agent. The melting point of crystals ordered in the -modification was 12 ± 2 °C lower than of those ordered in the -modification. The density of the foams has been significantly lowered due to talc and the -nucleating agent. The -nucleating agent is working as a nucleating agent for the formation of crystals and gas bubbles in the polymer matrix,.The appearance of the foam particles is heterogeneous, likely due to an early expansion of granules in the autoclave. With increasing density, the homogeneity of the foam particles increased. By increasing the volume flow rate of the water-polymer-dispersion, after the autoclave was opened, the homogeneity of the foam particles was increased, too. The processing of foam particles was possible due to fillers in the polymer.
