Title

Cyclical Transformation of Value Creation for Smart Services

Abstract
Data-based digital services such as smart services unlock diverse business opportunities for manufacturing companies and at the same time require fundamental changes in their historically grown value creation. However, for many companies it remains unclear how exactly to adapt the value creation. We tackle these challenges by introducing an approach for the cyclical transformation of value creation for smart services. Our research design is based on the principles of design science research. It employs consortium research to concretize the research process and method engineering as design paradigm. The main result is a method that consist of four phases to be carried out iteratively. Further, we provide suitable method components to be applied for each of these phases. The method combines the planning and design of value networks with aspects of business transformation, which is new in this research field. Practical application at and with consortium companies also confirms the relevance of our research for practitioners.
