Method for the Identification of Process Quality Characteristics and Suitable Measurement Systems in Battery Production

Abstract
Continuous improvement in terms of efficiency and quality is necessary for competitive battery cell production. An essential prerequisite for improvement is the knowledge of cause-effect relationships in production processes. The approaches of digitalization and its industry-specific implementation "Industry 4.0" offers the promising opportunities to recognize these relationships and to use them for improvements, as initial approaches are already showing. However, these approaches can only make a profitable contribution if decisive process variables are recorded correctly. Therefore this article intends to picture existing deficiencies in current research work and additionally outlines possibilities to identify the relevant variables of battery cell production as well as applying suitable measurement systems.
