Title

Role of PV for Europe’s Solar Targets

Title Supplement
Presentation held at GSESRE 2022, Global Summit and Expo on Sustainable and Renewable Energy 2022, June 16-18, 2022, Copenhagen, Denmark
Abstract
The German energy system plays a pioneer role for transition concepts, it moves from a centralized to a decentralized structure with renewable generation. In order to reduce CO2 emissions and to address the finite nature of fossil energy resources renewables such as solar power plants, wind power plants and cogeneration plants are widely installed across Germany and Europe. Thus, the immense expected expansion of renewable and decentralised energy systems will generate a high supply of fluctuating energy in the prospective grid. With a view on Germany’s energy system, the role of PV for the transition process towards a 100 % renewable energy system will be discussed. Options to go towards prioritized decentralized rooftop PV topology versus the ground mounted utility scale PV will be discussed within the presentation.
