Title
Terahertz scanner for improved wood sorting from bulky waste
Abstract
Wood waste has a potential to be reused or burned in energy production facilities. Improved sorting of wood waste saves resources and can reduce CO 2 emissions. Therefore, we develop a terahertz scanner as one of the imaging system elements for an intelligent wood sorting system.Besides the imaging scheme, we present measurement results of relevant wood and bulky waste samples. Starting from initial investigations by means of raster scans, conveyor belt experiments with a W-band sparse array scanner at feed motions of 10 cm/s were carried out. The goal for the later demonstrator is scanning speed of more than 1 m/s.
