Title

Spatial Mapping of Material Properties utilizing FMCW near Field Radar Scans

Abstract
This paper presents a method for spatial mapping of material properties utilizing a 2D synthetic aperture radar scanner. The method is based on a time domain approach resulting in the determination of the surface permittivity and geometrical length of the material. Further, the impact of diffraction and surface roughnesses on the calculation of the surface permittivity is discussed. In Addition, a smoothing approach is present to compensate diffraction effects leading to a more precisely determination of material properties.
