Quad-Polarized Leaky-Wave Antennas for Communication and Polarimetry Applications

Abstract
A quad-polarized periodic leaky-wave antenna (P-LWA) is introduced as a simple system for communication and polarimetry applications. This system consists of a pair of parallel P-LWAs that radiates circularly-polarized (CP) waves with opposite handedness. The four polarizations are obtained by exciting each of P-LWA solely for right or left CPs or simultaneously in-phase and out-of-phase for horizontal and vertical linear polarizations (LP). The proposed quad-polarized structure is demonstrated by full-wave simulation.
