Title
A Compact SiC Power Module for Vienna Rectifiers with Bus-bar like Structure
Abstract
Vienna rectifiers are popular in the application of EV charging piles. To increase the power density of Vienna rectifiers, a compact SiC power module with a double-side cooling structure for Vienna rectifiers is proposed and manufactured in this paper. The module's size is remarkably small, which is almost comparable to a single discrete device with a package of TO247. The stray inductance in the commutation loop is small, around 6.7nH, which benefits from the bus-bar like and spilt middle point structure. The particular structure greatly reduce the areas of commutation loops to mitigate the stray inductance. Besides, the heat can be transferred to the ambient from both sides of the power module. A prototype with rated voltage and current of 1200V and 50A, respectively, has been built up. The experimental results suggest that the proposed power module has a good switching performance and the simulation results show that the proposed power module can effectively improve the thermal performance.
