60 GHz Low Phase Noise Radar Front-End Design for the Detection of Micro Drones

Abstract
A concept of a radar front-end for the detection of micro drones is presented. Challenges for successful detection are identified and an innovative solution is proposed based on a radar fence concept. The development of a suitable front-end with low phase noise is described in detail. The performance is verified by measurement of phase noise and functional tests in the laboratory.
