Title
Alternative start-up and control of a DFIG-DCM laboratory test bench for wind energy applications
Abstract
Strengthening the role of renewable energy sources for the supply of electric energy, wind energy is gaining increasing importance. The doubly-fed induction generator as preferred generator type combines several advantages of low cost, high efficiency and variable speed in a wide range. However, an appropriate control for its complex structure is essential for an efficient performance. Therefore, this paper presents a control design and its validation through simulative as well as experimental investigations. With a special regard on an alternative start-up procedure, the drive train accelerates completely independent of the wind rotor emulator and allows the validation of the designed control after a transition to the normal operation mode.
