Title

Influence of charge size on enhanced blast explosives

Title Supplement
Abstract
Abstract
In this study 16 charges were characterized. The study includes 6 formulations based on HTPB and Hexogen. Some formulations contain Aluminium as well. The mass of the charges amount to 1 kg or 2 kg. The diameter of the charges was chosen to 100 mm. In a bunker with a volume of 45 m³ the formulations were characterized. The maximum pressure, the impulse, the impulse of the temperature and the time until 95 % of the maximum pressure is reached were determined. The results of the measurements show that with a higher charge mass, significant higher pressure and higher temperature are reached in the bunker. With a smaller mass of the charge the time to achieve the maximum pressure is reduced.
