Title

Efficient parameter sweeps of a transmission line for advanced integrated systems by weighted step-width approach

Presentation held at CST European User Conference, 28.-29.04.2015 in Darmstadt
Abstract
Advanced package technologies provide on the one hand new benefits like reduced power consumption or reduced form factor. On the other hand they also provide new challenges for designers and lead to questions like which parameters of the transmission line have to choose to get a good first result? Especially, if prototyping is expensive like the prototyping of silicon interposer then optimized parameters out of simulation data are very welcome for the designers. Obviously, a parameter sweep simulation can be very time consuming with respect to the time that a single simulation needs and the number of simulations that will be done during the sweep. To avoid a time and data explosion we need to know how manysteps during sweeps are necessary to capture the transmission behavior of the transmission structure with respect to the considered parameter. Also we want to spend a different amount of time on different parameters with respect to a known influence to the behavior of the transmission structure. In this paper we introduce a weighted step width parameter sweep approach based on the sampling theorem of Shannon to handle these requirements.
