E³-Fabrik: Energie- und Ressourceneffizient, emissionsneutral und ergonomisch - ein ganzheitlicher Ansatz für nachhaltige Produktion

Abstract
Production is the source for added value. In order to ensure added value sustainably a change in paradigm is required. This inevitably is demonstrated by the megatrends of demography and individualization, shortage of natural resources, change of economic structures and working environments, digital networking and ubiquitous intelligence. The essential sources of innovation for production are based in material research and information and communication technologies. However, the decisive enabler is and remains the human being. A sustainable production concept has to guarantee economic robustness at high volatility of the initial parameters. For this reason this concept must entail the significant aspects of efficiency in resource utilization in the production processes, emission-neutral i.e. cycle-oriented production as a whole and the human being as central elements. The essential added value, however, can only be reached by synergetic interaction at the levels of process and plant, factory operation and design of production site. The concept of the E³-Factory is an open approach for implementation.
