Title
Investigations of multi-wavelengths treatment at composite materials
Abstract
Composite materials are often characterized by anisotropic mechanical properties. But also the thermal and optical behavior is orientation dependent. The knowledge about these characteristics is important when the material will be treated with high power lasers. Lasers are flexible and wear-free tools and also suited for the processing of composite materials, if the laser ray will be absorbed at the material. Within this paper a system development will be shown, where composite materials like carbon fiber reinforced polymers can be treated cyclically or simultaneously with 10.6 m and 1.07 m laser radiations. A laboratory setup to realize multi-wavelength Remote cutting with a 2D-scanner equipment will be introduced. Using this equipment, different treatment strategies can be developed and adapted to various material compositions.
