Title
Multi-phase effects on pressure surge
Abstract
'Pressure Surge', as defined in this paper, occurs as a result of a change in the fluid velocity generating an interaction between the compressibility of the fluid and the distensibility of the pipe containing it. The purpose of this paper is to review the range of circumstances in which multi-phase conditions can have a significant effect on the behaviour of a pipe system. The objective is to raise awareness of the possible results of multi-phase effects and, thereby, to highlight the features any analysis must consider if these situations are to be satisfactorily simulated.
