Title

Combining quality of service and dynamic spectrum management for DSL performance improvement

Title Supplement
Presentation held at the XVth International Symposium on Services and Local Access. 21.3.2004-24.3.2004
Abstract
An approach for the joint optimisation of physical layer and higher layer parameters is presented. An adaptive scheme which uses both the varying channel and traffic characteristics is given for choosing an optimised bit-loading for all users. A framework for combined quality of service and dynamic spectrum management is introduced. This allows the adaptation of the bit-loading and the actual traffic consideration with respect to the required quality of service of the user. The multi-user bit allocation problem in discrete multi-tone digital subscriber line networks is investigated with reference to the users differing traffic and quality of service requirements.
