Title

INVISIP: Metadata- and process-based concepts to support site planning

Abstract
The EU-funded project INVISIP aims to create a framework to support all involved parties in the site planning process: Municipal authorities and departments, planning offices, data suppliers and citizens. This paper describes the INVISIP approach, global aims and objectives as well as the current state of the project. From the technical point of view the first results achieved within the analysis phase of the project have shown different possibilities to enhance data mining and visualization tasks by information visualization techniques using metadata and familiar metaphors. Several approaches, which were developed as first version of the INVISIP components, aimed to find, visualize and compare data needed during the actual task/step of the site planning process. This paper focuses on Metadata Browser, integration into the INVISIP-framework by using the Control Unit component and mechanisms implemented in the Metadata Browser.
