Title
A framework for mobile location and time dependent information systems
Abstract
The internet has well established as a business information channel, providing access to a huge amount of information. Mobile users, however, often have very specific information needs, depending on the users location and time (e.g., a service technician or a sales person at the customers premises). As bandwidth for wireless communication is normally rather low and mobile devices have quite different capabilities than an office PC (e.g. display size, graphics, or handling), it is not sufficient to provide mobile access to the Inter- or Intranet. In this paper we present a framework for building up mobile information systems very fast. A strong focus is put on integrating different content services in order to enable the creation of supply chains for information systems. Moreover, the system adapts the presentation of the information to the mobile device s capabilities and uses personalization methods to cover the user's individual information needs.
