Using Decision Model to Support Product Line Architecture Modeling, Evaluation, and Instantiation

Decision models are frequently mentioned in the context of software product lines. However, little is known about how a decision model implementation could be integrated with other tools to support product line engineering. While working on tool support for product line architecture development, we identified several requirements for the kinds of services that a decision model should offer. In this paper, I describe these services and how they can be used for product line architecture modeling, evaluation, and instantiation.
