Title

Reduction of fatigue loads on wind energy converters by advanced control methods

Abstract
With the increasing size of wind energy converters fatigue loads and extreme loads are becoming more and more crucial for the constructive design. Advanced control systems as presented in this paper enable for a significant reduction of loads on single components and on the entire turbine construction. Consequently, lifetime extension can be achieved and the component design can be optimised with respect to the reduced loads.
