Abstract
To compare different recycling-strategies for polymer materials a method has been developed that helps to find out the strategy with a minimum input of primary resources, especially those with calorific value. The consumption of primary resources can be depicted as a function of the recycling-quota. The method uses a uniform balance-system and thus enables the comparison of different recycling-strategies although different strategies lead to different recycling-products. Using a constant waste-input and a constant product-output (constant stock of products - "Nutzenkorb") as functional unit the recycling-strategies can be depicted in a system whose boundaries enclose all relevant influences combined with recycling. Depending on the strategy a certain part of the product-stock is produced by recycling, the rest from primary resources. Accepting the existing emission-standard, the amount of used primary resources is the relevant criterium for the comparison.
