Title
Generation of exposure atmospheres
Abstract
Introduction: Results of controlled inhalation studies should serve as a data base to assess the risk of human exposure to airborne substances that might have adverse health effects. The simulated exposure atmosphere should therefore match as closely as possible human exposure to the substance under consideration. The engineers contribution to a successful inhalation study is to provide a suitable technique for a controlled and reproducible generation of the exposure atmosphere. This requires a profound understanding of the underlying physical and chemical principles. (Truncated)
