Title
Substratstapel, insbesondere fuer die Kryokonservierung biologischer Proben
Other Title
Substrate for holding numerous samples, used for storing liquid or particulate samples, especially low temperature cryostorage of biological samples, consists of stack of substrate plates connected by anchoring axle.
Abstract

WO2005007290 A UPAB: 20050218 NOVELTY - Substrate (100) for holding numerous samples comprises a number of substrate plates (11, 12, 13), arranged as a stack (10), and an anchoring axle (20) connecting the plates. USE - The substrate plates are used for storing liquid or particulate samples; and for low temperature cryostorage of biological samples (all claimed), e.g. tissue, sections of tissue, cells, cells groups, constituents or organelles or biologically relevant macromolecules. They are also used in a process for cryoconservation of samples, in which the samples are placed on the substrate plates and these are frozen in the stack, the stack is made before or after the samples have been stored and the individual substrate plates are swung out and/or removed from the stack in the frozen or thawed state (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - For cryoconservation, biological samples are normally placed in the dissolved or suspended state on a sample substrate, which is transferred to a reduced temperature environment, e.g. cryotank. The present substrate stacks can take numerous samples; are very compact; can be mass produced cost-effectively; and avoid the risk of samples being displaced and difficult to identify. They are also suited to the freezing and storage conditions and are flexible and functional, i.e. are easily suited to certain conservation requirements and facilitate removal of cryoconserved samples, especially under low temperature conditions.
