Title
Magnetische Manipulation von biologischen Proben
Other Title
Cell carrier that includes a magnetic component, useful for culture and manipulation of cells and their components, e.g. cells for therapeutic use, includes a stable support allowing magnetically driven movement.
Abstract

WO2005083057 A UPAB: 20051011 NOVELTY - Cell carrier (10) for receiving a biological sample that includes a magnetic component (20). DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Cell carrier (10) for receiving a biological sample comprises a magnetic component (20); a foundation element (30) that forms a solid support, moveable in at least one direction on a solid base, and a receiving element (40) that has a surface (41) for holding the sample. (40) is on the opposite side from (30) and is formed to promote adhesion in a predetermined partial region of (41). INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for the following: (1) culture carrier (50) for receiving biological cell that comprises many (10); (2) device (60) for manipulating biological samples comprising a solid base (10); (61) arranged for positioning of at least one (10) and a positioning device (70) for exerting a magnetic force on (10); and (3) manipulating biological samples comprising placing a sample on (10) then moving (10) by applying a magnetic force. USE - The carrier is used in automated culture and processing of cells and/or cell components, e.g. cells for therapeutic use, but more generally in biochemical, genetic engineering, medical and biological applications. ADVANTAGE - Compared with usual microfluidics systems, (10) provides a more flexible system, including manipulation of individual adherent cells under sterile conditions, without application of a force to the cell itself. The use of a solid support avoids problems of non-reproducible aggregation encountered when using microbeads. 6
