Title
Verfahren zur Verbesserung der Nasshaftung von Holzbeschichtungen
Other Title
Treatment of water-dilutable lacquer coating, especially aqueous acrylate dispersion, on pre-conditioned wood, is carried out in acetic acid vapor at saturation vapor pressure after the surface has dried but while the coating is still soft.
Abstract

DE 10018821 C UPAB: 20011001 NOVELTY - Increase of the wet adhesion of coatings of water-dilutable lacquers, especially aqueous acrylate dispersions, to wood after hardening comprises applying the coating to pre-conditioned wood, followed by treatment with acetic acid vapor at the saturation vapor pressure after the surface has dried but whilst the coating is still soft. USE - The process is especially suitable for coating soft wood, particularly pine sapwood. ADVANTAGE - Aqueous acrylate dispersions have little penetration into wood and the difference in swelling in the presence of water results in little wet adhesion after hardening. As priming the wood with waterproofing agent limits penetration of the coating, waxes and film-forming agents are sometimes added. The present method gives good results without these drawbacks.
