Abstract
For the purposes of image transmission in endoscopes or similar devices, optical fibres arranged in parallel have been used in the past. This type of optical fibre bundle requires a complex process for their production. This type of bundle has reduced flexibility. At most they permit the integration of additional optical fibres, requiring a high technical effort. To remedy these disadvantages, a process has been devised and uses optical fibre bundles comprising non-parallel optical fibres for visual and measuring purposes whereby light is injected into the optical fibre bundle at an injection side and is coupled out from said optical fibre bundle at the coupling-out side. The individual optical fibres on the coupling-out side are designated and their coordinates are determined. The optical fibres detected at the coupling-out side are determined at the injection side and are their coordinates are also determined. Finally, the positions of the individual optical fibres at the coupling-ou t side are converted to the coordinates of the corresponding optical fibres on the injection side.
