EP 403935 A UPAB: 19930928 The antibody (MAb) 30F16H5 obtained from hybridoma cell line ECACC 88050502, preferably coupled to a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and additive, is used in a pharmaceutical product, preferably for intravenous administration. USE/ADVANTAGE - The MAb is used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases, e.g,. rheumatoid arthritis, and HIV infections, as the Ab binds to the CD4-protein of T-helper cells, macrophages and other cells. The Ab does not interfere with the immunological status of the patient and has no antimitotic activity. In an example, a 54 year old woman suffering from severe rheumatoid arthritis is treated for 5 days with 20 mg of the MAb. After 3 days, MO CD4-T-cells are detected in the blood circulation and inflammation is greatly reduced.
