A catalytic gas sensor has a heating device, a temperature sensor device and a catalytic active surface layer. In order to increase the measurement accuracy and to detect different gas types, the gas sensor has a first and a second detection range with different sensitivities, whereby the temperature sensor device is also arranged on the first and also the second detection range.
