Title

Concept and realization of an individual reminder service for people suffering from dementia

Abstract
Rendering and offering adequate reminder services in a situation-aware, proactive manner and providing information for diagnosis support is a major issue for Ambient Assisted Living systems when it comes to dealing with persons suffering from mild dementia. One great challenge therefore is to provide the reminders in context to the real situation, to minimize the number of reminder messages, and to individualize the reminder tasks. In the European project CCE (Connected Care for Elderly Persons Suffering from Dementia), this functionality is realized by a component called Dementia Diary. It is a central component of the overall CCE system with many interconnections to other components of the CCE system. This article gives an overview of the Dementia Diary and briefly describes its realization using rules.
