Analysis of requirements-based test case creation techniques

Abstract
Testing is one of the most frequently applied quality assurance techniques in the software engineering world. Traditionally, testing is perceived as a process that starts when all the other development work has been done, i.e. at the end of the development. This is a misconception, which was corrected lately, especially through the new approaches from the agile community (test first principle). At least the test case creation can start as soon as the basis on which the test cases are build upon is in a somewhat stable state. In this report we analyze the state of the art of approaches for test case creation during the requirements engineering phase. The existing approaches are first categorized into direct or indirect approaches and then the commonalities of these ap-proaches are discussed.
