Title Supplement
Projekt-Laufzeit: 01.07.2003 - 31.12.2004
Abstract
EduTeCH combines High-End information technologies in the areas of Virtual Reality and Interactive Storytelling in order to create an entertaining experience for historic sites. The game-like application takes place on the ground of the Gyeongbokgung palace in Seoul, South Korea. On the palace area also the Jiphyeonjeon is located, the academy building, where the Korean alphabet, Hangeul, was created. Involved in an interactive game, the user can experience background information on Hangeul. The original palace has been destroyed during various occasions. Virtual Reconstructions of the ancient buildings which can be explored in real time give us an impression of how this historic place looked like in former times. Virtual Characters guide the user through the game and engage him in the interactive story. They also serve as narrator for the story and historic accounts. The course of the story itself is adjusted according to the user's position by the so called Story Engine.
