CIP3. Print production format

The primary goal of the CIP3 Print Production Format is to reduce the effort required for the setup of different machines during the production of a printed product. It is the idea of applying the concepts of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) to the process of the printing industry. This means tha electronic communication must be enabled between the different steps of production. In particular, the information that is already available in prepress must be made available to all further process steps. Today, differences in terminology as well as individual hardware dependencies make communication difficult.
