Biologische Wasserstoffgewinnung. Forschungsperspektiven und Technikfolgen

A novel concept of R&D-programme integrated technology assessment and its application for the German R&D-programme 'biological hydrogen production'is described. Basic scientific problems, potential solutions and future perspectives of biological hydrogen production are analysed. Competing solar hydrogen technologies are investigated as well. Scenarios for the potential future utilization of solar hydrogen are developed considering essential technical, environmental, economic and social boundary conditions. On this basis potential impacts of biological hydrogen production are assessed and guidelines for the future development of this new technology are derived.
