Eine Anordnung zur Anzündung von Flüssigtreibmitteln mit Lichtbogen.

An experimental setup for spark ignition of liquid propellants is described and results of a series of tests are presented. The igniter allows the conversion of 3 cbcm of liquid propellant into a flame jet within a few milliseconds. Injection pressure, reaction pressure and the amount of the transferred electrical energy have been measured during the ignition process. The flame propagation in front of the igniter has been studied using a high-speed video camera. Ignition experiments have been carried out with Nitromethan/Methanol 80/20, with propellant LP 1846 as well as with pure petroleum.
