Title

Design and implementation of a measurement tool for verification- and validation activities

Abstract
High demands in terms of quality are placed on software-intensive, critical products. In order to achieve this high degree of quality in a systematic and controlled manner, one must first be able to measure quality throughout the development process. Next, the measured quality has to be analysed. The purposes of the analysis can include the control of projects, the identification of factors influencing quality, or the validation of a newly introduced technology. Since numerous analysis techniques exist in the literature, a survey on relevant analysis techniques was performed. The results have been structured using a framework based on the GQM-paradigm. To support the selection of suitable analysis techniques out of this framework, a selection process has been developed in this thesis. In order to support the rapid introduction of measurement- and analysis programs, a toolkit based on Microsoft Excel has been developed that implements analysis techniques that are most beneficial, especially for small- and medium sized organizations.
