Technological Trend Analysis

The present review gives a short introduction to the background of TTA and its methods in the context of bibliometrics, with a focus on the literature from the past 15 years (i. e. 2005-2019) but also including some important older publications. It deals with quantitative TTA (where bibliometrics and patentometrics are employed) and qualitative TTA (which uses e. g. expert interviews, historical reviews or questionnaires) and then finishes with a discussion of the methods and a conclusion.
