Infolge des Anstiegs im E-Commerce sind deutsche Versandhändler darauf angewiesen, die Vielzahl variantenreicher Kundenbestellungen durch innovative, digitale und technische Lösungen abzuwickeln. Ein vielversprechender Ansatz zur Senkung von Distributions- und Verpackungskosten ist, das Versandvolumen zu reduzieren und den Prozess zu automatisieren. Hierfür sind Voruntersuchungen erforderlich, welche die Optimierung von Packstrategien sowie die simulative Prozessabsicherung adressieren.

Due to the rise in e-commerce, Germany's mail-order companies need flexible data processing and technical solutions for dealing with the enormous variety in sales orders. To contain the distribution and packaging costs, reduced shipment volumes and new automation solutions should be realized. To achieve this, preliminary studies are required, dealing with new packing strategies and physic-based simulations of the packaging process.
