Title
High-performance ceramics for power, chemical, machine and plant engineering
Abstract
The use of fibre-reinforced ceramics in the hot gas zone of gas turbines offers potential to achieve disruptive improvements in the efficiency of energy conversion with the increase of the gas inlet temperature and reduction of component cooling. If fibre-reinforced ceramics with a higher load limit and tolerance as well as increased lifetime can be produced at prices acceptable to the market and used, a key contribution can be made to the conservation of fossil fuels as resources and to climate protection.
