Anti Icing Coatings

Formation of ice on the exterior of aeroplanes presents a serious potential hazard. This can be significantly reduced by application of a plastic film with pretreated surface. On the one hand, this lowers the temperature of ice formation while on the other hand, it reduces the adhesion of ice to the surface. Variously pretreated surfaces were compared to determine the most suitable form ofpre-treatment and were also compared in terms of bilding of ice and adhesion of ice.
