International research and technology capacity in the area of security and defense research
Abstract
Research Activities in the field of Security and Defence are increasingly funded and coordinated on international levels. Therefore it is necessary for (national) decision-makers to have enhanced knowledge about research structures and planning processes in other countries and in international bodies, e.g. EU, EDA (European Defence Agency), NATO. New instruments due to more efficiency is also needed. Based on reports and analyses on defence related Research and Technology (RaT) in selected countries we developed a new information system, which contained and structured the results of the actually achieved results in a way to allow an effective support to planning an decision-making processes within the German Department of Defence. The article compactly describes the project's aim and results.
