Tribologisches Verhalten von DLC-Schichten in wässrigen Salzlösungen

Tribological behavior of DLC coatings in aqueous salt solutions
Abstract
The friction and wear characteristics of DLC coatings were examined in aqueous solutions with different contents of solved NaCl with oscillating sliding motion. As counter bodies balls of stainless steel and Al 2O3 were used. The results were compared with those from tests with uncoated disks of X5CrNil8-9. The friction is lower for the coated samples against both ball materials, independently of the salt concentration, by a factor 3 to 4. The wear for the coated samples is substantially smaller than for the uncoated, it shows for both ball materials the same tendencies with about 10 times smaller wear for the coated sample in distilled water, with increasing salt concentration the protective effect of the a-C:H-layers rises to over 100.
