Title
Security aspects of bioaerosol technologies
Abstract
Aerosol technologies are of increasing interest in different fields of legitimate civilian research, particularly in agriculture and pharmacology. On the other hand, those technologies may facilitate the development of pathogenic microbial or biochemical agents as letal or nonletal weapons. States, groups, or individuals interested in the use of biological weapons are in need of appropriate delivery technologies to disseminate biological agents. Depending on the actor and its intent, varying means of delivery can be effective, including the contamination of food or water supplies and/or the aerosolization on varying scales. Based on the experience with former biological warfare programs it can be assumed that the most efficient way to deliver biological agents as weapons it their aerosolization.
