Laufzeitunterstützung für mobilen Code

In der Dissertation [1] wurde das Konzept der Kommunikation durch Übertragung von Code statt Nachrichten, insbesondere in Form von mobilen Prozessen (Agenten), gründlich analysiert und ein Laufzeitsystem für mobile Agenten vorgestellt. Das System besitzt zum Teil neue Eigenschaften und bewies in einer Anwendung zur verteilten Suche deutliche Geschwindigkeitsvorteile. Als Fazit der Dissertation wird mobiler Code, eher als die noch einmal zusätzlichen Aufwand erfordernden mobilen Agenten, als wichtiger Mechanismus in kommenden verteilten Anwendungsplattformen gesehen.

This Ph.D. thesis thoroughly analyzes the concept of communication by transferring code instead of messages, in particular in the form of mobile processes (agents ), and presents a run-time system for mobile agents. The system has several unique properties and delivered considerable speed gains in an application for distributed searching. As a conclusion, mobile code rather than mobile agents, which require additional expense, is predicted to become an important mechanism in future distributed application platforms.
